Sometimes I feel like trying to manage diabetes is like trying to operate a pinball machine.
I’m frantically pushing the levers, trying to contain the pinball (which is my blood sugar in this simile, keep up!) and coax it where I want it to go, but the pinball is inevitably shooting around the machine wildly, sliding through tunnels I didn’t even know were there, pummeling right past me, darting right between the levers, ultimately making me feel like my levers and I never even stood a chance.
I mean, those levers seem ridiculously inadequate in the grand scheme of the pinball machine. There is huge (pancreas-sized) gap between them! The pinball can just slip right by!
How much control could they really have?
